On Wednesday, March 2, 2022, the Entertainment and Events Committee led a unique, back roads trip to Solomon’s Castle in Ona. We traveled the two-hour ride on traffic-free country roads to an “Old Florida” treat.
Solomon’s Castle is nestled in the untouched woodlands in the center of the state. As BBC, PBS, Better Homes and Gardens, The Boston Globe and many more have told their readers, you will be pleasantly entertained and enlightened with the story of Mr Howard Solomon and his dream.
We began with a trip to the gift shop hidden under the swooping branches of 100 year old moss-covered trees. Next, the castle tour was a slow, well-guided explanation of Mr Solomon’s creations… all so uniquely interesting. The tour was led by a friend of the artist, so it offered a lot of friendly, knowledgeable insights.
After the one-hour tour through the rooms, we were led through The Boat in The Moat for a full homemade dinner in a group dining area. We finished the day with a walk through the art-scattered paths in the woods. Everyone had a wonderful adventure. To learn more, go to The Story of Solomon.
