Autumn brings cooler days and offers several new, fun activities in the ORO area. Thanks to Dee Sordillo, we have the following list of local activities to explore in October:
- Oct 1-2: Fall in the Field (Mt. Dora, FL)
- Welcome the Fall season and enjoy the best antiques/primitives show at Renningers! This annual event includes fall treasures, wonderful primitives, and antiques displayed by dealers filling both pavilions and all the tents across the antique center.
- Oct 1-2: Magical Dining (Orlando, FL)
- Experience Orlando’s acclaimed culinary scene with three-course, fixed-price dinners at many popular restaurants, including MICHELIN Guide honorees. Dinners are just $40 per person, plus tax and gratuity.
- Oct 1-16: Sh-Boom! Life Could Be A Dream (Winter Park, FL)
- The Winter Park Playhouse has you meet Denny and the Dreamers, a fledgling doo-wop singing group preparing to enter the Big Whooper Radio contest to realize their dreams. The early 60s hits include Fools Fall in Love, Tears on my Pillow, Runaround Sue, Unchained Melody and many more.
- Oct 1, 8, 15, 22, & 29: Leigh Shannon’s Cabaret Dinner Show (Orlando, FL)
- The Cabaret Dinner Show with host, Leigh Shannon, features the finest in female impersonation, comedy, and celebrity look-a-likes. This show is on Saturday nights.
- Oct 1-30: Rodin: Contemplation and Dreams (Lakeland, FL)
- More than 40 of Rodin’s works are throughout the gallery of the Polk Museum of Art at Florida Southern College. While visiting this museum, don’t miss all the Frank Lloyd Wright architecture as well.
- Oct 4: National Night Out (Clermont, FL)
- Food vendors join local law-enforcement agencies in this annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie.
- Oct 13-23: Dial M for Murder (New Smyrna Beach, FL)
- Tony has married his wife for her money and plans to murder her. He plots the perfect murder, blackmails a scoundrel, and arranges an alibi for himself.
- Oct 21: Queen Divas Tribute (Winter Park, FL)
- The Winter Park Playhouse presents Carlene Mitchell’s Queen Divas Tribute: A Treasured Tribute to Whitney Houston, Diana Ross, Tina Turner, and Natalie Cole for one-night only at 7:30pm. This special 90-minute show is an exciting salute to the iconic pop vocal artists who blazed a trail through the 1970s and 80s.
- Oct 21-31: Halloween Light Show (Winter Garden, FL)
- At city hall, you can enjoy a hay maze, light show, themed photo locations, and more. Grab an outdoor dining spot and watch the best selection of costumes. Enjoy street performers and a haunted house at the SOBO Art Gallery.
- Oct 22: Sounds of Soul (Clermont, FL)
- This show is a tribute to Motown greats: The Temptations, The Four Tops, Aretha Franklin, Whitney Houston, The Supremes, Lionel Richie, Tina Turner, Barry White, and more.
- Oct 22: KISS Alive Tribute (Winter Haven, FL)
- Many grew up with the music of KISS, posters on bedroom walls, and playing air guitar and drums. This tribute has evolved over 12 years into the premier KISS Tribute in the southeast.
- Oct 22-23: Craft Fair (Mt. Dora, FL)
- As cooler weather arrives, more than 400 talented crafters and artists from all over the country display and sell their finest works. More than 100,000 visitors attend this two-day event to enjoy food and entertainment for a perfect day outdoors.
