Many thanks to Steve and Deb for sharing their local find with us… Bok Tower Gardens.
Just a short trip down Rt 27 (35 miles) and you will come upon a beautiful place to visit called Bok Tower Gardens in Lake Wales. These gardens are absolutely breathtaking as you walk all around looking at all the different types of gardens within the 50 acres, you will be just amazed by the beauty.
You also have the opportunity to visit the museum to learn about the gardens and the carillon singing tower bells. People come from all over to just find a peaceful place in the gardens to listen to the carillonneur perform a live concert of carillon musical pieces at the tower every 1:00 and 3:00, Thursday-Sunday in Oct-May. The singing tower also plays short selections every hour and half hour.
There is also Pinewood Estate Historic Tours where you can enjoy the 20-room Mediterranean-style mansion on location especially beautiful during the holidays. Unfortunately, right now tours are not available. However, visitors may enjoy the exterior gardens of Pinewood Estate.
Shuttle Service to the Tower is also not available at this time, but the trails have some paved and some with mulch as you walk through the gardens to the tower. Most of all, the message that Edward Bok has left for all to read and understand is one to take to heart.
There is an entrance fee per guest for visiting the gardens and museum. They also have available yearly memberships if you would like to visit regularly. You can buy your tickets online at their website or at the ticket booth when you arrive. We have included a few pictures from our visits.
