On March 22, 2022, The ORO Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) ran a simulated tornado drill, which included a search and rescue exercise and the extrication of 2 people. The team also performed a 360 walk-around of 2 houses to assess any damage, and extinguish a simulated fire.
The exercise was a great learning experience, as well as a lot of fun. Afterward, the team met for an after-action meeting to identify areas where the response can improve. If you would like to be a part of CERT, please contact Linda Smith Lawson or Gary Westfall. The training is through Polk County and will be held in our area in January 2023.
