What started out as an average day of volunteering at an AARP event in Clermont today became far from an ordinary day for an active ORO CERT Team member.
Someone ran into the event and asked if anyone knew CPR. One of the AARP senior organizers had passed out at his desk, fell to the floor, and he hit his head on the wall. The CERT team member had CPR training from here at ORO and he started CPR on his colleague. When he got tired, another volunteer took over until the ambulance came and took the man to the hospital.
We received notice this evening that the man is resting comfortably in the ICU. His wife and daughter extended “a special thanks to the volunteers for having the knowledge and calmness to perform CPR until medical attention arrived.” A very tough day ended on a high note for all the volunteers.
Please consider attending a CPR Training class… you never know when you can make a difference! The next CPR class at ORO is March 21, 2022. For more information, see CPR/AED Training Passes 400 Milestone.
