CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) volunteers are trained to assist until emergency services arrive and continue to help after they arrive. Possible disasters may include tornadoes, hurricanes, mass casualty accidents, fires, active shooter, and other incidents. On February 7, 2022, CERT leaders Linda and Stan Lawson ran a Fire Suppression training for the team, reviewing the response to different types of fires and use of fire extinguishers. The training extinguishers were on loan from Polk County Fire Department and were filled with pressurized water. The training was an excellent review of skills that the team had learned in their original training by the Polk County Fire Department.
