March brings many fun activities to the ORO area. Thanks to Dee Sordillo, we have the following list of local activities to explore in March:
- March 4-6: Sister Act (Lakeland, FL)
- This show is the feel-good musical comedy smash based on the hit 1992 film. Featuring original music by Tony- and eight-time Oscar winner, Alan Menken (Newsies, Beauty and the Beast, Little Shop of Horrors), this uplifting musical was nominated for five Tony Awards, including Best Musical.
- March 10: The Music of Billy Joel
- Bring your lawn chairs and enjoy watching Mark Anthony who looks, sings, and plays just like Billy Joel. As a piano player from NY/NJ, Mark Anthony pays tribute to an artist he has emulated since his own musical career began. This show takes you on a journey from the early days of Billy Joel’s career up to some of his most recent releases. Enjoy songs like Piano Man, You May Be Right, Allentown, and New York State of Mind.
- March 10: Popcorn Flicks in the Park: Legally Blonde
- This free film series shows classic films for the whole family. Bring a chair, blanket, some snacks, refreshments, and your family and friends.
- March 11-20: Ain’t Misbehavin’
- TheatreWorks Florida offers several shows of this Fats Waller work.
- March 12: The Celtic Tenors
- The Celtic Tenors give you a night to remember with two show times (3:30pm & 7:30pm). Experience a sparkling and good-humored performance by three world-class artists. Enjoy the music and harmonies with tenors who are the most successful classical crossover act to emerge from Ireland.
- March 12-13: Lake Wales Arts Festival
- This 50-year-old tradition celebrates art with up to 100 artists competing for more than $22,000 in awards. The diversity of this two-day Festival attracts thousands of art lovers each year who purchase original, one-of-a-kind works of art. The Festival also features food trucks, live entertainment, and so much more.
- March 14: Blue Man Group
- Blue Man Group is coming to Lakeland with their signature drumming, colorful moments of creativity, and quirky comedy. The show features pulsing, original music, custom-made instruments, surprise audience interaction, and a joyful experience that unites audiences of all ages.
- March 15: Menopause the Musical
- Four women at a lingerie sale have nothing in common but a black lace bra and memory loss, hot flashes, night sweats, not enough sex, too much sex, and more. This musical parody is set to classic tunes from the 60s, 70s, and 80s.
- March 18 – April 3: Bloody Murder (Lake Wales)
- A group of British murder-mystery types gather for a weekend retreat. Suddenly, one of them dies, but her Ladyship refuses to summon the police. Agatha Christie meets Pirandello, as characters rebel against their author.
- March 19: Kowtown Festival
- The City of Kissimmee is celebrating its 139th birthday with vendors, food trucks, and live music from musical guests. Bring your family and enjoy the Kids Zone.
- March 20: Sentimental Journeymen
- The Sentimental Journeymen songbook features old standards, but also includes more contemporary Broadway tunes, country and rock, patriotic numbers, and spirituals.
- March 23: Beethoven, Brew and BBQ
- Enjoy a casual food-truck dinner of barbecue and beer from Lagunitis before the concert. Food service begins at 5:30pm. The concert inside the Howey Mansion starts at 7pm.
- March 24 – April 17: Suds, The Rocking 60s Soap Opera
- This musical tells the story of a down-on-her-luck laundress and the guardian angels who come to teach her about finding true love. Suds is loaded with more than 50 well-known songs that topped the charts in the 1960s, including Please Mr. Postman, Johnny Angel, Chapel of Love, Walk on By, and Respect.
- March 25 – April 10: The Spider or the Fly
- In this thriller, two stories unfold simultaneously in the same space, but in different time frames. One couple meets while serving on a jury, and get romantically involved. At the same time, another couple weaves through their unusual relationship that has ties to the jury case.
- March 30: Jazz Excellence
- The Florida Southern College Jazz Ensemble joins guest artist Aaron Eckert (Trombonist from the US Army Blues Band) in a performance that features the trombone and its role in the Jazz world.
- March 31: The Price Is Right Live
- This hit, interactive stage show gives eligible individuals the chance to hear their names called and “Come On Down” to win. Prizes may include appliances, vacations, and possibly a new car! If you’re a fan of The Price is Right on TV, you will enjoy this exciting, live (non-televised), on-stage version of the show.

- Wonder House (Bartow, FL)
- The Wonder House is a private residence in Bartow that offers historic tours by online, advance reservation.
- Historic Mount Dora Walking Tour
- The unique architecture of the historic homes and buildings provide insight into the development of downtown Mount Dora since the late 1800s. The walking tour is available on the free Distrx Mobile App and guides you through downtown with a narrated tour and a number of stops.
- Cypress Gardens Water Ski Team
- The ski team provides a FREE performance the third Saturday of each month.
- Albin Polasek Sculpture Garden & Museum
- By reservation only, explore the inspired world of internationally-acclaimed Czech sculptor Albin Polasek. You can tour his home, galleries, and sculpture gardens located in Winter Park on Lake Osceola.
- Scenic Boat Tour
- These tours use an 18-passenger boat to explore the pristine Winter Park chain of Lakes.
- Charles Hosmer Morse Museum

- Historic Tours at the Howey Mansion

- Lake County Historical Society
- Enjoy an interactive tour from city to city to learn about the citrus history.
- Lake County Trails (Mt Pleasant)
- The trails connect to the Wekiva Trail System for multi-use with bathhouses and covered picnic areas.
