On February 5, 2022, Linda Lawson received the ORO CERT Member of the Year award at the Annual Awards meeting in Bartow.
Linda joined the CERT team in 2020 and established a strong leadership position in a short time. As the new head of ORO CERT this year, she has sought new activities for the team to improve the health and safety of people at ORO. One example is her contribution to the smoke test, which was conducted by an outside engineering group at our park with the goal of determining problems in our sewer system. The correct functioning of the sewer system impacts the health of all the residents in our park.
Linda has instituted a quarterly (every 3 months) inspection procedure for the AEDs throughout the park. These inspections are done by team members, ensuring that the equipment is properly dated and that the batteries work.
Linda and a few of the CERT members have also revised our protocol for storm preparedness and had it published on our website. Linda’s past career as an EMT is a bonus to us because she is very knowledgeable about emergency procedures. She is an asset to the ORO community and we congratulate her on receiving this well-deserved recognition.
